One of our main assets on Kilchoan Estate is the resident herd of wild red deer, which have been native to the Highlands of Scotland for centuries. Since the 1980's the deer on the Estate have been carefully managed in an attempt to improve and to create a healthier herd for the future.
Around Kilchoan Farmhouse you will see stags, hinds and calves roaming freely around the fields most of the year. These deer are fed during the winter months to help them through the hard winters of Knoydart.
If you are up early enough in the morning you will see our Ghillie out feeding the deer, ponies and highland cows which is an excellent opportunity for some good close up holiday snaps!
Stalking is one of the main activities that we run on the Estate and there has been a selective deer management program in place on the Estate as far back as we can remember. For more information please visit our Deer Stalking page by clicking here.
