New Year 05-06 Get in early, as we've accepted 2 bookings already!

It's nearly the end of January & Dave Marriot's daffodils are coming into bloom already. This surprises me because of the weather that we've endured recently has been horrendous.

We know that everyone has had a battering from the weather.
The rain that has fallen on the west coast over the past 2 months & the damage that was caused by the storms was horrendous.

Knoydart has suffered the worst storm in 20 plus years,
with most of the damage sustained to the road from "Donald's Corner", to Scottas.
We had sections of road just disappear into the sea, the village front washed out, all sceptic tanks exposed, filled with pebbles & sea water, waves up as high as the Pub door, the Pier under 3 feet of raging ocean,
boats sinking and also boats flying!!

Mallaig took a pounding along it's sea front at west-bay,
all the cars in the car park were washed into a pile in the centre, with water damage to most of them. The new Community Centre was flooded, as was the Police Station, Petrol Station, Coastguard Station & most businesses around the pier area.
The Old-Pier (Where Knoydart Boats depart from) was under water & fishermen spent most of the time trying to prevent their vessels from landing on top of the pier.
All the net stores were destroyed in the west-bay area too.
I must give great credit to both the Knoydart & Mallaig communities, for everyone just got the heads down and got into the tidy-ing up of our respective areas. (Photographs Attached)

What's on (or) What's been on.

Isla and Rhona put on a Cheese & Wine evening, with most of the community contributing old photographs of Knoydart and it's inhabitants for perusal. A sum of £130 was raised for the village hall fund.
A Pier Meeting took place on the 18th Jan. All is ongoing, staff and managers changing like the weather but things are moving forward. A few days have been lost, due to the weather.
A Ranger Community Workshop took place on the 13th Jan, with very favourable views put forward and to be passed onto the Foundation at the next planning day.
Parties We've had Christmas Parties, New Year Parties, Singles Parties, Clean Up Parties and even Properly Married Couples Parties!
Burns Supper On Friday 21st Jan.
Knoydart Foundation Planning Day Meeting Fri: 11th Feb.
My last picture is one of Brhoamisaig from Sgurr Nan Gobhar, this the weather that YOU! will have when you holiday with us at Kilchoan.

Hope this finds you all in great health and we look forward to seeing those who have booked already. For those of you that haven't booked, "Get Yir Skates On".
Yours Aye, Drew & Jacqui & All At Kilcho
