Hello
To All.
Pierse Construction who are building the new pier have turned back to
a former way of construction of building the new pier, as the coffer-dam
couldn't hold out the water. A fair bit of the budget has been wasted
here so let's hope that there will be no corner cutting or lack of capital
to finish the project, when October looms?? It was scheduled for completion
for October but call me sceptic? (Which October)
Work has started on the old slipway at the front of Pier House. This access
to local & visiting boats is being widened plus extended a little,
to make easier landing. The old pier is to be dismantled and rock armouring
put in place form the school area, along the front to as far as the Church.
We've had our first wedding of the year so far. Neil & Claire (Birnie)
were married in the front of Glaschoille House, congratulations are extended
to the happy couple from all the community here on Knoydart. What a Ceilidh
! Music was provided by Gary Innes of Spean Bridge and his band &
if anyone out there is looking for a fantastic band for a Dance, Wedding,
Hall or Pub? You should seek them out at www.garyinnes.com
We've also had a few folk returning from various travels around the planet,
Ian Robertson is back from NZ after visiting his son Steven. Jackie has
stayed on with the family for a "wee" while longer. Asher has
returned from the hunting season in Argentina, Kristy is back as cook
in the Old Forge (from NZ) Allan & Mary Robinson have returned from
sailing the Carribean, to supervise and work on the construction of their
new property at Doune. Danny's come up from the Borders for a stint in
the pub.
We also hear the "The BUTCHER" is due in from far off pastures
on Sunday 24th April, so God help us!
Mark & Angela have moved into their new home up behind the school.
Mark is going to run his boat and other marine related courses from home
now.
Stephanie is moving from Mallaig High School to Plockton High School in
August, to enhance her Clarsach talents & finish her 5th and 6th year's
higher education.
The first yachts of the season are starting to appear, the primroses are
out in style & at last the trees are starting to leaf and go green.
The ground is a bit behind though, we got snow & frost again on the
tops last week, which killed off a much of the fllowering daffodils.
KNOYART GAMES On the first Saturday in August! It's the best fun-filled
family weekend of the year, so you better book up your accommodation soon.
"Franks", Tarbert games Looks as though it will happen a week
earlier, on the Sat:30th July.
We will endeavour to put some new pictures of Spring onto the site ASAP.
Hello to all from us. Yours Aye, Drew & Jacqui.
