News Update
15th May 2007

The progress at Kilchoan Farmhouse is coming on well & the finishing touches are now in progress.

Fraz (Painter) is in midst of oiling all of the oak & other wood surfaces. Chic has hung all of the doors and is working away at door latches & handles. Toby is in the midst of everything but generally in the kitchen at the moment.

Willie (Gargoyle) & Jim are laying stone slabs around the front & rear of the house. As you can see by the included photographs, it’s all starting to come together beautifully.

We now have a new “Hill-walking” page set up on our site, so check it out. It should give all our guests at Kilchoan a new perspective of the terrain before they arrive, with the inclusion of the 3D Os: format images of routes to access our Munros & Corbetts.

Other walking routes for wild-life, bird-watching & coastal routes can be obtained on request. At Kilchoan we try to give our guests a little exclusive treatment that will make their stay more special.

The main contractor JST Services of Ayr has brought in the most modern up to date equipment that the whole operation of loading a ship can be done in around 30 hours. It’s an impressive site to see and is being well managed by Scottish Woodlands and of course Knoydart Forest Trust.

(All of the local work force look great in their HIGH-VIZ gear : )

Congratulations to Faye on becoming 21 years young last week. I hear the Beach-theme party went down very well. Sandy’s wardrobe of floral & “screaming-coloured” shirts was raided for the occasion.

Alistair Lanyon & Anita move down to Doune this week for the coming season. Alistair is going to run the Gripper. Anita is going to be on hand in the restaurant.

The Old Forge dog Gaddie went missing over a week ago and unfortunately was found dead of natural causes up in the woods.

International Women’s Day on Knoydart raised £821, which is to be split between Mallaig Swimming pool & Lochaber Women’s Aid.

The girls of Knoydart need a big pat-on-the-back for all of their hard efforts.

I must admit that our Kilchoan ghilles looked rather “glam” after their make-over in Rhona’s Salon. The fake tan and purple nail varnish did make them stand out against all others.

The oncoming season is starting to look busy so we’d just like to inform all of our prospective visitors.Get A Move On & Book !..you might be tipped at the post for the best accommodation in Knoydart.

Kindest Regards To All. Yours Aye, Drew & Jacqui.
