News Update

Hello There Folks.

I know it’s been a while since we updated but better late than never plus I had to wait until I had something worthwhile to inform you with.

Rhona & Islay’s Pottery has been getting stockpiled for the oncoming season and work on their new tearoom is taking place as we speak. This is happening in the old Pier Store. The building when finished will combine both workshop & a place to enjoy at boat times or other.

Fires

There has been 2 serious fires this back-end & not to be repeated, I hope.
Our ghillie’s bothy was destroyed to a state of total renovation but luckily no-one was hurt in the accident.
Terry & Karen from the Old Kirk had a heating boiler go up on them too & luckily this was contained to the boiler room but they did suffer from smoke damage.

On a lighter note, “Wee Sandy” from the pub has gone and got engaged to Aga on valentines day, over in her native Poland. (Another 1 bites the dust)
Steven our ghillie has moved to pastures new in Norway.
Iain Biggart & Jim Brown have headed off to do the shooting season in Argentina and will return around June.

Knoydart Arts Promotions are hosting a craft day on Saturday the 12th of April.
Subsidised boats will be available from Mallaig at 12noon.

Come & enjoy an afternoon in Inverie, watch or join in with local crafts folk. Eg: Stonemason, Lace making, Walking Sticks, Antler products………….and much more.

Live Music during the day plus a session with Gary Innes & friends in the Old Forge at night.

We’ll arrange to get you transported to an idyllic location that is only known to local knowledge. You’ll experience near total privacy?

These are but a few things to tempt & interest you, just enquire on booking or on your arrival in Inverie.

Mr. Billy Mackenzie (Arnisdale Ferry) is trying to establish a 1 day per week, regular ferry service to and from Knoydart. People visiting Knoydart can go & view Loch Hourn and Arnisdale, climb the beautiful munro Beinn Sgrieathall, visit Sandaig Bay-Loch Hourn (Gavin Maxwell – Ring of Bright-water fame)……..and more.
People in the Glenelg & Arnisdale area will be able to visit Inverie for the day too.
It’s looking to do these trips on a Wednesday if enough interest is shown. This links in with the Knoydart Ranger Guided Walks.
Pick-up & drop off point will be Airor.
Transport to and from Airor will be provided by the new Knoydart Taxi Service. Morag (Inverie Lodge B+B) available from now! She can get you to the foot of that Munro…….pick you up….. Save you hours!
