Kilchoan
Farmhouse is now out of circulation for rental to visitors,
due to it being totally overhauled.
Guests can still take the full opportunity of the newly refurbished Greives
Cottage for their stay with us on Knoydart.
Since we last spoke to you, the weather's been nothing great until recently.
It's now in the middle of a heat-wave which is great. I've even heard
it said by some locals "Oh It's too HOT", very unusual for these
parts. Some folk are never happy!
The New Pier is now in use the Old Pier is now gone, this all happened
on Monday 10th July. Pierse Construction are now on the last tidy up around
the place. I must admit that all of the works appear to be totally what
we were all looking for. We now have a facility that will see us well
into the next millennium.
Toby is busy with building works at the Post Office, Kilchoan Farm House,
Cara's, the Hydro dam, Scottas & just completed work at Sandaig for
John & Jannet.
He's a busy "wee" bee.
The village has had a good share of the yachties this season so far. The
golden braided "bunnetts" have been seen in the village on regular
occassions. Just like to say to any yacht-persons whom happen to visit
our site that we can't take your litter in Inverie. We only have a private
waste-tip which is closing soon, so it's better to discharge all waste
in Mallaig or elsewhere where they have
the facilities to handle.
We recently had a visit from 9 Micro-light aircraft plus a couple of small
aeroplanes. Bob & John Sellers cut a landing strip in the long-beach
field & there the entertainment ensued. The pilots kindly took any
locals who wished, up for a flight around the peninsula. The kids had
a ball & we can't thank these folks enough for their kindness.
I't's now back to barbecues, sunbathing, swimming in the river & of
course WORK.
Visit Knoydart Soon.
Yours Aye, Drew & Jacqui Harris
