I’ll start of by letting you know that Kilchoan Farmhouse will be unavailable for holiday rental from 30th June 2006. This is so that a total refurbishment can take place on the building and it should be back on stream for spring 2007. We are fortunate that we can now offer our guests at Kilchoan, another totally new & upgraded refurbished property in Grieves Cottage for your Knoydart holiday experience. Grieves Cottage will comprise of wooden floors throughout downstairs. It will sleep 8 persons very comfortably in 4 bedrooms, 3 Twin 1 Double. There are 2 Bathrooms, one downstairs, one up-stairs, both with showers. The Lounge / Dining Room will boast a wood-burning stove, window seats and on top of this there is oil fired central heating throughout. The kitchen is fully fitted with 5 burner gas hob, twin electric ovens, and dishwasher & also equipped to capacity. At the rear entrance there is a cloakroom facility / utility room with adjoining dry-ing room. Grieves
Cottage will be let on a Saturday to Saturday basis, all bed linen, towels
electricity & fuel included in the price. (Sorry No Dogs) See tariffs: We’ve celebrated the engagement of Aaran & Fraz & also Iain and Catriona the joy of Anne-Marie & Merv getting allocated a new home which now puts other accommodation up for grabs locally.
The pier is now looking nearer completion and what a great job Pierse Construction has made of it so far. This structure will be here for the next 200yrs by the look of it and speaking of the look! I don’t know what we were worried about when we were panic-ing about colour of concrete etc ??? It’s colouring naturally by itself and the main structure should be finished by April. Landscaping and finishing of around the slip-way might take a little longer, not forgetting the old pier to be dismantled too. The last job will be for Steve to erect the toilet building but this can’t take place until the main contractors are finished.
Broadband ; Highland Council helped provision and installation of Broadband to the small Isles & Knoydart last year, only for the network to collapse recently because the holding company went to the wall. I must say that there were a few disgruntled locals in the area of this part of the Western Highlands not to mention a few councillors who started to rattle cages.
Headin Out Ian & Jackie are away again to see Steven in NZ, Mr. Brown & Mr. Biggart are off to the hunting ground in Argentina, with ghillie Danny also making way to NZ for the summer months, to return at the back end of the year for a land management course in Aberdeen. Knoydart Arst Promotions: Have Ingrid Henderson & Anne Martin over for a gaelic night in the month of march, so keep an eye on their web page.
The annual Knoydart Burns Supper went famously as per usual & thanks goes to all who contributed.
That’s the “Craic” for now, speak to you all soon. Drew & Jacqui. |
