Kilchoan
Estate has a restocking policy in place which has been running
for 5 years. We have been introducing over 40,000 fingerlings
or fed fry (depending on availability) to the river, during this
period.
There are now good signs of recovery in both Salmon and Sea-trout
stocks but we still hold a catch & release policy on the river
at present until such time as we think that stocks have recovered
enough to turn the fishing into a sustainable commercial enterprise.
Brown Trout fishing is available on Loch Bhraomisaig which is
situated at 800 feet above Kilchoan Fank. This loch provides “Brownie”
fishing which is second to none in Scotland, if not Britain. A
bag of 3 fish per rod / per day is permitted on this water. £10.00
per day.
Other accommodation includes: Kilchoan Farmhouse, Kilchoan Barn,
Grieves Cottage & Druim Bothy

Welcome to the Kilchoan Wild Wilderness
fishing experience and holiday vacation that dreams
are made of.
Kilchoan Fishing (Knoydart) can offer you a relaxing break away
from it all, in a landscape which has been named as Europe’s
last great wilderness area.
Our first runs of Sea Trout
start in early June with Grilse coming later on in the month and
towards the first two weeks of July.
After this period everything is dependent on our rainfall, which
can be sometimes regular in this part of the Western Highlands.
The Inverie river will hold fish most of the season but if things
go quiet then we head to Loch-an-Dubh-Lochain (Grid:821004 OS33).
Here there is always good sport to be had with the Brownies, Charr
or whatever has run the river.
The Knoydart peninsula is
a paradise of un- questionable beauty, fantastic fishing &
abundant wildlife, not forgetting our Hebridean Sea-scape.
Now I’ve not mentioned
Loch Brhoamisaig.
This loch lies south of the Inverie river at (Grid: 787974OS33).
The fishing on Brhoamisaig doesn’t come easy because the
loch is situated 800ft above sea-level. It takes about 1hr 30mins
to reach but when you get there, you can put Loch Leven, Loch
Arkaig & Quoich well behind!
The scenery around you will leave you in wonderment & the
fishing spellbound. (“A Gem within a Crown”)
The Inverie River on the Knoydart Peninsula
is fed from Loch an Dubhlochain (Black Loch). It has 16 named
pools & flows from East to West towards Loch Nevis, the loch of
“Heaven”.
Loch an Dubhlochain is able to be fished from a boat as well as
the bank. The Inverie river vacates the loch at the southern end,
then meanders 4-5 miles toward the sea. On it’s way towards the
sea, it is joined by the Meadall River at the Long Pool. This
pool is a favourite by anglers as it is deep & holds fish until
there’s enough water to get them up into the loch and eventually
spawn.
The “Inverie” as it is known by locals contains salmon, sea-trout
& Brownies. The river is shaded occasionally by Alders, Rowan
& Holly trees, it can be waded carefully to maximise your coverage
of all the pools.
Loch an Dubhlochain also contains Arctic Char and the odd rogue-trout
or (Ferrox) Our season begins on the 15th March through to the
6th of October, for trout & salmon. Fly Fishing only unless the
river is in spate, where Spinning may be allowed. We endorse barbless
hooks be used on the system.

The Fank is a newly established holiday
cottage which is let in conjunction with Kilchoan Estate fishing.
It was completed in December 2002 and is a delightful self– catering
cottage which can sleep up to 6 people.
It contains 2 twin rooms plus an additional sofa-bed, in the lounge
area.
The Fank has a fully contained kitchen, with 4 ringed Gas cooker,
central heating, wood-burning range & dining area.
The kithchen looks up the beautiful Glen Meadall and Glen Dubhlochain.
A spiral wooden staircase leads from the kitchen to a gallery
& attic style twin bedroom.
The front lounge has a wood burning stove, panoramic view over
Inverie Bay and further outlook towards the Sound of Sleat, Isle
of Rhum & Skye.
