Kilchoan estate was formerly part of Knoydart Estate and has been with the same family since it was bought around 20 years ago.

What can we offer you ? Warm, comfortable accommodation just far enough away from the village for complete privacy, spectacular views from your windows of Glen Meadall and Glen Dubh-Locahain, if you are staying in the Fank you can look onto Inverie Bay and out to Skye and Rhum.

The Red Deer stags come down to Kilchoan to winter and you can watch them being fed along with the highland cows and Garron ponies. If you like to fish a 5 minute walk and you are at the Sea Pool on Inverie river, you can fish right up the river to Loch Dubh-Lochain where we have a pioneer boat to fish the loch. We can also organise a stalking week with your accommodation in Kilchoan Farmhouse. Our season for stalking is between September and mid February.

If you would like to come to Kilchoan Estate whether it is to fish, stalk, walk, mountain bike or just chill out and relax in front of a wood burning stove, we will do our best to ensure you have a thoroughly enjoyable stay with us.

News Update.
___________________________

I don’t know where the times goes – four months since the last news update, at least there will be lots to say!

The Goss-Jim and Kristy have had their baby, little Kitty Parker Brown was born a few weeks early, much to Kristy’s surprise (and everyone else in the tea room) on 22nd February.  Thankfully Kristy managed to keep hold of her until they reached the hospital!  Samantha, Jasmine, Daisy and Felix had enough of ‘down south’ and have returned to Knoydart.  Sandy has recently returned from his travels and is refreshed and ready for the season.  Phil the chef has came back as well for another season in the Old Forge kitchen and Sarah has also returned. Steven the ghillie is now Steven the boatman as he has landed himself  a job at Doune. Fay has come back and is working for our estate doing the housekeeping while I sit in the office-hard old life!

Estate news – Not much really, Iain was in Argentina for all of March and the beginning of April, leaving John to get on with all the work himself.  I think he spent most of that time in the garage up to his elbows in grease and oil, swearing as yet another wrong spare part arrived after waiting over two weeks on it coming.  It all worked out in the end and we have a shiny new cement mixer and an even shinier tractor trailer. We have a new bull and cow arriving today, Iain and John are in Mallaig right now trying to get them onto a landing craft, hopefully that all goes to plan.  Lots of guests arriving today which marks the beginning of the ‘tourist season’ so it’s washing, drying and ironing from now till the end of September!

Other stuff – Our music festival went down very well with around 480 attending.  Music was excellent, weather fantastic and the craic was great.  Thanks go to the army of Knoydart volunteers that kept the bar going till the wee sma’ hours, were there in the morning sorting out the recycling, driving luggage from the pier to the field, making stiles, wonderful dance floor for the marquee, hanging bunting anywhere it would go, selling t-shirts, pointing people in the right direction, selling drink tokens, festival day tickets, staying sober to drive musicians back to their digs at 3 in the morning...the list is endless and everyone did a fantastic job and made the weekend into the success it was.  Same again in 2 years!! Look out for the photos, coming soon.

Bargain – we are doing a special deal with 4 people or less staying in Kilchoan Farmhouse using only the downstairs floor and attic bedroom which gives you two en-suite twin bedrooms, kitchen, lounge and sun room. Contact us if you would be interested.
